HOTPLATE the show!

                                                                       Preview of "HOTPLATE" the SHOW

It has been said, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." I've never been a big fan of the stuff myself, but in a rapid round of unfortunate events, my life has left me in a unique situation where I can again take up blogging. Not exactly where I left off several years back. But then again, that's another story...another Blog.

So let us begin.
My successful career and business, (see: restaurantsxdesign.blogspot.com), were taken out by the financial upheaval of 2008. My marriage and wife were taken out by my music partner and neighbor in the reality upheaval of 2010, (see: allthisreally.blogspot.com). this was followed by the ill-fated New Orleans themed, Cajun/Creole/Jazz/Blues/Restaurant/Live Music Venue/Art Gallery, project (Never partner into business with a person of questionable ethics) of 2011-2012. and finally a full lost year of no work, no benefits and not much hope.

That pretty much brings us up to the present.
A previous restaurant design client offered me a position in his new business.
GREAT NEWS! I get to live rent free in his awesome new guest house. (see pics. below). I get a brand new iPhone 5, Free service contract and updated data plan, Awesome!
Now comes the down side, barring regular bonuses when I have an exceptional week in sales, the agreed rate of pay was set at $100 per 54 hour week.

Now, $1.85 an hour may seem crazy for 6, nine hour days a week, but I have zero bills...well almost, that $100 a week breaks down to $14.28 a day for food and incidentals. Luckily I only have myself to support.

Which finally brings us to the POINT OF THIS BLOG.
This is a Show called "HOTPLATE", self produced from the guest house kitchen, which by the way lacks a stove. (size constraints), and documents how well you can eat on a minuscule budget with only a single hotplate, a saute' pan and a saucepan. This is more than recipe show. The logic behind it all should open your mind to a much bigger picture of reality. Entertaining, yes, but ultimately I hope you take away much more.

All the Best,
Michael
